Borrower insurance: constant or decreasing premium?
Your loan-insurance premium can be calculated in two very different ways. The choice changes what you pay early and the total cost.
Constant premium
Calculated on the original loan amount and identical throughout the loan: simple to budget, often higher at the start.
Decreasing premium
Varies with outstanding capital (falling) and age (rising); often lower at the start. Compare total cost over your expected term.
